Biography:
Tina Blythe is a researcher, teacher, facilitator, consultant, and writer. She has been a researcher at Harvard Project Zero, a research group based at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, for more than 20 years. Her recent work has focused on approaches to supporting deep learning for young people and adults through active engagement and group learning processes, particularly processes for collaborative inquiry and the collaborative assessment of work.
Tina Blythe consults for organizations, schools, and education systems around the world. She teaches at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where she also designs and facilitates online professional development courses. She serves as facilitator and education adviser for Silkroad, a cultural and performing arts organization founded by the cellist Yo-Yo Ma to promote innovation, learning, and cross-cultural understanding through the arts. For twelve years she was on the faculty of the Boston Architectural College, where she also served as Director of Faculty Development. She began her career teaching secondary school.
Tina Blythe is the co-author of a number of books (all published by Teachers College Press, New York), including Facilitating for Learning (2015); Looking Together at Student Work, 3rd Edition (2015); The Facilitator’s Book of Questions (2004); and Teaching as Inquiry: Asking Hard Questions to Improve Practice and Student Achievement (2004). She is also the author of The Teaching for Understanding Guide (1998, Jossey-Bass Publishers; translated into Spanish, Chinese, Swedish, and Georgian).
