Violinist Bing Wang enjoys a multifaceted career as an orchestral leader, chamber musician and educator. A long time member of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, she joined the orchestra as Associate Concertmaster and currently holds the title of Acting Concertmaster. Previously, she held the position of Principal Second Violin with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. She was a Guest Concertmaster of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra from 2009 to 2019, where her tenure was highlighted in televised concerts conducted by Ricardo Muti, Jaap van Zweden and Alan Gilbert. As a soloist, Wang has won critical praise for her many performances with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. She appears annually as both concertmaster and soloist at the Hollywood Bowl under the baton of legendary film composer John Williams, performing solos from his signature movie classics, such as Schindler’s List and Fiddler on the Roof. She has also been a featured soloist with the Oregon Symphony, Pacific Symphony, Eugene Symphony, Young Musicians Foundation Debut Orchestra, and American Youth Symphony.
Active as a chamber musician, Wang has collaborated with distinguished artists such as Lang Lang, Yefim Bronfman, Emanuel Ax, and Jean-Yves Thibaudet. Born in China, Bing Wang attended Middle School of the Shanghai Conservatory
, Peabody Conservatory, and Manhattan School of Music, under the tutelage of Berl Senofsky and Glenn Dicterow.
A passionate and devoted educator, Bing Wang is an Adjunct Professor at the USC Thornton School of Music where her students have won positions with multiple major orchestras. She also serves on the faculty at the Aspen Music Festival and School, Music Academy of the West, Tianjin Juilliard School as well as the Colburn Conservatory.
